To verify an academic credential issued through AcadCert, upload the signed file or enter its credential ID at the public verifier. The check is free, needs no account, and tells you whether the credential was signed by the stated institution and has not been altered, revoked, expired, or superseded.
Step by step
- Get the credential. This is the signed PDF the graduate received, or a verification link or QR code that points to it.
- Open the verifier and upload the file, or paste the credential ID (it looks like
doc_…). - Read the result. Verification runs in a few seconds.
Reading the result
A credential resolves to one clear status:
- Valid: signed by the stated institution and unaltered.
- Revoked: the institution withdrew it. A reason and date are shown where provided.
- Expired: the credential’s validity window has passed.
- Superseded: a newer version has replaced it.
- Tampered: the file was altered after signing, so the signature no longer matches.
What to watch for
A genuine credential verifies regardless of who sends it to you, because the proof is in the document. Be cautious of a credential that exists only as a screenshot, a re-saved PDF that fails the integrity check, or a claim of authenticity with no way to verify it. If verification fails, ask the holder for the original signed file rather than a copy.
Do you need to trust AcadCert?
No. Verification is cryptographic. A valid result proves the credential was signed by the institution’s key and has not been changed, independent of AcadCert.
