Terms of Service
Last updated March 10, 2026
1. Acceptance
By using AcadCert you agree to these terms. If you represent an institution, you confirm you have authority to bind it. If you disagree, don’t use the service.
2. What the service does
AcadCert provides a platform for issuing, storing, and verifying academic credentials using cryptographic digital signatures. Institutions issue, students access and share, third parties verify.
AcadCert does not grant or certify academic qualifications. We provide the technical mechanism for verification.
3. Accounts
Access requires an account created by an institution administrator. Authentication uses one-time codes sent to your email — there are no passwords.
You’re responsible for keeping your email secure and not sharing OTP codes. If you think your account is compromised, tell your institution administrator.
4. Roles
Students
View, download, share credentials. May not modify or misrepresent any credential. Sharing a credential means consenting to its verification.
Issuers
Act on behalf of their institution. Issue credentials to registered students, revoke or supersede where warranted. Responsible for accuracy.
Administrators
Manage users, institution settings, and key operations. Responsible for access controls within their institution.
5. Verification
Anyone can verify a credential without an account. Results reflect the state at query time and check cryptographic integrity, issuing authority, and revocation status.
A “verified” result confirms the credential was signed by the claimed institution and hasn’t been altered or revoked. It is not an endorsement of the institution’s accreditation.
6. Don’t
- Forge, falsify, or misrepresent credentials or verification results
- Attempt unauthorised access to accounts, keys, or infrastructure
- Abuse the verification API beyond published rate limits
- Interfere with service availability or integrity
- Use the service for anything illegal
7. Intellectual property
The platform is AcadCert’s IP. Credentials belong to the issuing institution. Students retain personal data rights per our privacy policy.
8. Liability
The service is provided “as is.” We don’t guarantee uninterrupted availability or error-free operation.
To the extent permitted by law, AcadCert is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages from using the service — including reliance on verification results for hiring or admissions decisions.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access for violations, at institutional request, or for operational reasons. Previously issued credentials remain verifiable as long as the service is running.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes get communicated by email and posted in the platform. Continued use means acceptance.
